How we keep learners safe

Written in plain words, because you shouldn't need a law degree to check whether your child is safe.
Before a tutor ever teaches
Every tutor, no exceptions:
- PVG scheme membership(Disclosure Scotland). We verify the certificate ourselves — profiles show “PVG ✓” only after we've seen it.
- Video interview with our founder — every tutor, personally, no exceptions.
- Two references contacted — not just collected.
- GTCS verification where teacher status is claimed, checked against the public register.
- Signed code of practice — the same commitments every tutor agrees to before going live.
During every session
- Parents are always welcome to be present — no tutor may discourage it.
- Cameras are optional for learners who prefer it.
- Sessions happen only through platform links — no private video calls, no off-platform contact with learners, no direct messaging between tutor and child. All contact goes tutor ↔ parent.
- Tutors never request or accept learners' personal contact details or social media.
If something doesn't feel right
Named safeguarding contact: our founder, Jonathan. A human reply within 24 hours — usually much faster.
What happens when you raise a concern: acknowledged → looked into → you're told the outcome. A tutor is suspended from bookings during any serious investigation.
We'd rather hear ten unfounded worries than miss one real one.
You never need our permission to go directly to any of these: Police Scotland (101), Children 1st Parentline, or your local authority's child protection team.
Children's data, briefly
What we hold about learners: first name, level, and what parents choose to tell tutors. No learner accounts, no learner emails, no marketing to children — ever.
Sessions are not recorded at MVP. If that ever changes, it will be opt-in and announced, never quiet.
