Building a loose CfE plan without over-scheduling

Curriculum for Excellence describes broad experiences and outcomes across levels, not a week-by-week syllabus, which is genuinely freeing for home educators, but can also feel disorientingly open-ended if you're used to school's structure.

A useful approach: map your year loosely against the CfE levels (Early through to Fourth Level, then National qualifications) as a rough spine, without trying to schedule specific weeks to specific outcomes. The point of the spine is reassurance that broad ground is being covered over a year, not a rigid plan to be followed exactly.

It's normal, and fine, for real learning to happen out of the tidy order a spine implies: a deep dive into one interest for a month, then catching up breadth elsewhere later, is a completely valid shape for a home ed year, not a sign of falling behind.
